Hindus attacked during ‘Navin Varsha Swagat Yatra’, while passing through a Muslim dominated area, in Karauli, Rajasthan. The incident occurred during the Hindu New Year, while they were peacefully passing by the Hatwara Bazar area. Stones were pelted at the rally and the shops were set on fire. The event was held to commemorate ‘Nav Samvatsar,’ the Hindu New Year’s first day.
The frenzied mob left 43 people injured, including police officers who were accompanying the event. Knife marks were seen on the bodies of the injured. They were sent to a local hospital for treatment.
To keep the situation from spreading, the market was closed, and a curfew was imposed in the city. 600 police personnel have been deployed in Karauli.
Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot has ordered the police to arrest the criminals soon and take appropriate action against them.
This is not the first time that the Hindus have been attacked by the other community. Similar incident happened in Karauli a year ago.
