Teacher Arif Iqbal Suspended for Assaulting Students and Insulting Hinduism [Bhaderwah, Jammu and Kashmir]

Teacher Arif Iqbal of High School Manthala has been suspended after a massive protest by students and parents. He is accused of brutally assaulting students, including girls, and making disparaging remarks about Hinduism.

The protests began after Iqbal allegedly insulted Hinduism repeatedly and harassed students. He reportedly threatened a student, claiming he would pay the student’s father to sacrifice the child. Additionally, he forced female students to rub their noses in his spit and attacked students violently, causing some to faint.

Following the complaints, an initial inquiry by the Chief Education Officer of Doda confirmed the allegations. Iqbal has been suspended pending further investigation and is required to stay available for the ongoing probe. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against him under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

A committee has been formed to conduct an in-depth inquiry and will submit its report within 21 days. Iqbal will receive subsistence allowance during his suspension period as per the rules in force.
