[ Reported as seen ]

On 9 October, a gang of 5 radical Muslim men attacked activists of Sriram Sena with knives and iron rod in the town of Belagavi, Karnataka. The attack came right after the Eid prayers on the Islamic festival of Eid Milad-Un-Nabi, the Islamic festival that marks the observance of the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad.

Amin Jangushaikh and four others were loitering in the streets of Belagavi when they picked up a quarrel with Hindu activists of Sriram Sena alleging that the latter were not allowing them to pass. The road rage turned violent as Amin and four others attacked the Sriram Sena activists, injuring at least three of them.

Although a clear case of Hindu-hatred, the Belagavi superintendent of police Sanjeev Patil termed the incident as a result of personal enmity and appealed to the people not to disrupt peace and harmony in the region.

The Muslim extremists attacked Sena activists Gopal Bandivaddar and Ravi Bandivaddar with knives while one Nanjundi Bandivaddar, who had gone to pacify the situation was attacked with an iron rod.

Sriram Sena is an activist group that fights for Hindu rights.
