In Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, a man named Samir, who concealed his true identity and pretended to be a Hindu named Naresh, has been arrested for raping a young woman and attempting to force her to convert to his religion. The case came to light when the victim reported the incident to the police, leading to Samir’s arrest.

The incident took place in the Ankur Vihar area of Ghaziabad. A Hindu woman revealed that she had befriended a man named Naresh a year ago. During their initial interactions, Samir, posing as Naresh, claimed to be a resident of Seemapuri, Delhi. As their acquaintance grew, they started meeting frequently, and Samir would call her daily.

The victim, who worked at a factory in Mansarovar Colony, Shahdara, was eventually helped by Samir to get a job at the same factory. Subsequently, Samir began visiting her house. The woman alleged that on March 13th, Samir, under the pretense of marriage, established a physical relationship with her and threatened her to keep it a secret.

When the woman insisted on getting married, Samir took her to Haridwar and performed a superficial marriage ceremony at a Shiva temple by applying sindoor (vermilion) to her forehead. However, there were no traditional rituals like taking pheras (circumambulation around the sacred fire) or chanting mantras. Samir falsely assured her that they were now married.

About a month later, when the woman visited Samir’s home in Nand Nagri, she overheard people calling him Samir, not Naresh. This raised her suspicions, prompting her to investigate further, only to discover that Naresh was actually Samir, a Muslim from Shaheed Nagar, Ghaziabad.

Upon confronting Samir, the woman faced severe physical assault. She alleged that Samir pressured her to convert to Islam and threatened to kill her when she refused.

The woman managed to escape Samir’s clutches and returned to her home, where she lodged a complaint with the police. Based on her complaint, an FIR was filed against Samir for rape and deceitfully concealing his identity. ACP Bhaskar Verma confirmed that the police had arrested Samir and sent him to jail.
