On Sunday, May 26, Haldwani Police arrested Saif Ali for allegedly using a fake identity to engage in a love affair with a Hindu girl. Posing as Sukhwinder Singh, Ali booked a room at a private hotel near the Railway station in the Lalkuan Nagar area, using a fake ID card. The arrest followed a tip-off from Hindu activist groups.

The incident took place at the Avan Hotel near the Lalkuan Kotwali area. Hindu activist groups alerted the police about a Muslim youth who had checked into the hotel with a Hindu girl. Upon investigation, police found that Saif Ali had booked the room under the name Sukhwinder Singh, and during interrogation, Ali admitted his true identity.

Saif Ali, a resident of Lalpur in the Kichha Kotwali area of Udham Singh Nagar district, had brought the Hindu girl to the hotel on a Bullet motorcycle. The girl, from the Dineshpur police station area, was unaware of Ali’s true identity. During police questioning, she learned that Ali, who had pretended to be a Hindu, was actually a Muslim.

  • Family Involvement: The police informed both families. The girl’s family chose to take her away without filing a complaint.
  • Charges Against Saif Ali: A case was registered against Saif Ali, and his motorcycle was seized.
  • Hotel Management Accountability: The hotel operator failed to verify Ali’s ID properly, leading to possible legal action against the hotel for negligence.

  • Hindu Activist Group: Kamal Muni Joshi, a leader in the Hindu activist community, suggested that Ali might be part of a larger racket and urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation.
  • Police Statement: Lalkuan police station in-charge Dinesh Fartyal confirmed the arrest and mentioned that further action would depend on ongoing investigations. The police are also considering actions against the hotel operator for not properly checking ID proofs.

This incident highlights concerns about identity fraud and religious deceit, sparking reactions from community activists. The case has garnered attention due to its potential implications for communal harmony and the integrity of personal relationships within the region.

Saif Ali, posing as Sukhwinder Singh, was arrested in Uttarakhand for deceiving a Hindu girl into a relationship. The case was brought to light by Hindu activist groups and has prompted a police investigation into potential larger-scale fraudulent activities. Authorities are also addressing the hotel’s failure to verify guest identities properly, reflecting broader concerns about safety and legal compliance in the hospitality industry.
