On Tuesday, 30th July, a massive crowd gathered at the funeral of RSS worker Arvind Vaishya, who was brutally stabbed to death in Mumbai’s Dharavi area by accused Niyaz Sheikh and Arif. Arvind was declared dead on 29th July, sparking outrage among the Hindu community, who demanded strict action against those involved in his murder.

The Hindu community gathered in large numbers, raising slogans against the accused and the police, demanding stringent action against all involved. During the funeral, an alleged incident of stone pelting occurred, resulting in injuries to police personnel stationed in Dharavi for the ceremony. Videos of the incident, showing injured police officers, have circulated widely on social media.

Arvind Vaishya, 26, associated with the RSS, was murdered by a group of individuals from a specific community. The attack took place on the evening of 28th July when Arvind attempted to help his friend Siddesh, who was being harassed by the accused. Arvind was assaulted and stabbed by Niyaz and Arif, with other named individuals including Yasin, Sher Ali, Shubham, and Jumman also involved in the altercation.

The police took cognizance of the event and booked Niyaz Sheikh and Arif under sections 103(2), 351(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Samhita, 2023. The FIR, obtained by OpIndia, lists additional accused individuals. Initial reports indicate that Arvind had intervened to assist Siddesh and his father, who were being harassed and assaulted. This intervention led to the fatal attack on Arvind.

The arrests of Niyaz and Arif have been confirmed, but the Hindu community continues to demand comprehensive action against all those involved in the murder. The incident has heightened communal tensions and underscored the community’s call for justice.
