In a disturbing incident, a Hindu girl who went missing a few days ago was found with a notorious Muslim youth, Mohammad Ashfaq, in the Pandeshwar station area of Mangaluru. The girl, a BCA student at a prestigious private college in Mangaluru, was kidnapped by Ashfaq on July 4th. A complaint was immediately filed at the Vidyanagar police station, and she was later rescued.

However, on June 30th, she was kidnapped again. Her father reported that they were in Kochi, Kerala. Mohammad Ashfaq, who is already married and has eight criminal cases against him in the Vidyanagar police station in Kasaragod, is accused of abducting the girl and unlawfully converting her to Islam. The girl’s father lodged a complaint with the Mangaluru Police Commissioner regarding her abduction.

Vinod, the girl’s father and a resident of Vidyanagar, Kasaragod, expressed his distress in front of the media in Mangalore. He explained that his 20-year-old daughter, a BSc student at Srinivas College in Mangalore, had been struggling due to financial constraints and had been unable to pay her second-year fees. She had been in contact with Mohammad Ashfaq, a man with a criminal background who has fifteen cases against him across two police stations in Kasaragod. Ashfaq had previously married two other girls.

Despite her parents’ objections, the girl went with Ashfaq, who took her away under the guise of reconciliation. The police have since taken her to a counseling center in Mangalore after recording an FIR. It has been indicated that the girl left with Ashfaq of her own will, creating trouble for both her family and the authorities.

Expressing outrage over the incident, Sharan Kumar Pumpwell, a leader of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), stated that the Hindu community needs to be vigilant against Love Jihad. He emphasized that the conversion of Hindu girls under the guise of love and marriage is increasing in the coastal region and called for a strong law to curb such practices.

Recent reports indicate a rising trend of Love Jihad in Karnataka, with Islamists allegedly targeting Hindu girls, grooming them for relationships, and instances of abduction and forced conversions. Karnataka has seen 15 recent reported cases of such incidents, which is a cause of great concern among Hindus. The VHP’s call for stringent action reflects the urgency to address and prevent these troubling incidents.
