In a troubling case from Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, a young woman from Almora has accused Saif Ali, who posed as “Sameer,” of deceit, exploitation, and blackmail. The incident has highlighted concerns over so-called “love jihad” in the region.

According to the victim’s report, she met Saif Ali in 2021 when he introduced himself as Sameer, working in finance. They developed a friendship, and Saif, under his assumed name, promised her a job in Rudrapur. Trusting him, she traveled to Rudrapur where he coerced her into staying with him in a room in Jagatpura. There, he allegedly exploited her sexually under the pretense of marriage.

The girl later discovered that “Sameer” was actually Saif Ali from Ramnagar’s Khatari. Upon realizing his true identity, she found herself blackmailed with intimate photos that Ali threatened to use against her unless she converted to his religion.

Distressed and seeking help, the girl reached out to a Hindu organization. The members of this organization confronted Ali on Ravindranagar Road on the afternoon of July 6th. After a physical altercation, they handed him over to the police at the Housing Development Police Chowki.

The girl has officially filed a complaint demanding legal action against Saif Ali. According to Sub-Inspector Lalit Chaudhary, the accused has been detained, and an investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the crimes committed. The police have assured that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.

This incident has sparked discussions on the need for greater vigilance and measures to protect individuals from such deceptive practices. The community awaits the results of the investigation and the subsequent legal proceedings against Saif Ali.
