In a shocking incident from Maharashtra’s Beed district, Maulvi Mujeeb Mujjid Sheikh has been arrested for brutally assaulting minor Hindu students for allegedly plucking Jamun fruits near a Dargah. The attack, which took place on July 8th in Dindrud (Majalgaon), has sparked outrage among the local community.

According to reports, Maulvi Mujeeb Mujjid Sheikh, along with his accomplice Sameer Attar Kasam, assaulted the students with a stick when they were picking Jamun fruits from a tree near Mahebub Subhani Dargah. During the assault, the Maulvi also attempted to strangle one of the students.

The victims, 13-year-old Tejas Navnath Katare and Ratneshwar Rustum Thombare, both residents of Dindrud and students at a local secondary school, were attacked on their way home. Tejas sustained severe injuries, including head trauma, and is currently in critical condition, receiving treatment at a government hospital in Beed. Ratneshwar Thombare suffered minor injuries. A third student managed to escape the assault and fled in fear.

The situation escalated when Tejas’ mother, Vandana Katare, filed a complaint at the Dindrud police station. Based on her complaint, the police registered a case (FIR No. 142/2024) and promptly arrested Maulvi Mujeeb Mujjid Sheikh. However, Sameer Attar Kasam remains at large.

The brutal nature of the attack, particularly the attempt to strangle Tejas, has caused significant concern and anger among the villagers. Tejas underwent a CT scan and remains under medical observation due to the severity of his injuries.

The local community is demanding swift justice and the arrest of the remaining suspect. This incident has highlighted the urgent need for better protection of children and stricter enforcement of laws against such violent acts. The police have assured the public that thorough investigations are underway, and appropriate actions will be taken to ensure justice for the victims.
