Karnataka MLA of Congress, Satish Jarkiholi, labelled ‘Hindu’ as ‘vulgar’ and ‘shameful’. “Where has the ‘Hindu’ term come from? It has come from Persia…So, what is its relation with India? How’s ‘Hindu’ yours? Check on WhatsApp, and Wikipedia, the term isn’t yours. Why do you want to put it on a pedestal?… Its meaning is horrible,” he said in a public speech.

Jarkiholi, comes from a well-off family who live by growing sugar-cane. It is heart-wrenching that despite this he failed to find better sources than WhatsApp and Wikipedia to cite his hatred.
