[ Reported as seen ]

A Kashmiri Pandit named Akhil Dhar, was stopped from giving  Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board examination ( JKSSB ) because he had a Janeu ( white thread ) tied around his body.

The simple white thread is of wide importance to the Hindu dharma and is regarded sacred. The ones wearing it should wear it at all times. However, for the JKSSB the Hindus must lay down their dharma and reduce the holy thread to any other thread for the examination, even when there is no reason for any sought of cheating taking place through it.

As per Akhil Dhar, he travelled from Jammu to Samba which is  approximately 38 km. At the gate he was checked and stopped for wearing his janeu, the officials asked him to remove it. Dhar boldly denied and said that it was in his dharma and he would not remove it. They allowed him to go inside but then, he was checked once again and asked to leave couple of items such as his bike keys, and the pen for not being transparent. They checked him further and once again, pointed out at his janeu, they said that it wasn’t allowed.  Dhar stood by his statement.

They asked him to open and keep it on the ground. Dhar said that he would not keep it down as it is sacred to his religion. So they further suggested him to hang it by the tree, and claimed that the other Hindu students had done the same. However, Dhar confirmed that he did not see any Janeus hanging on the tree. He said that he wont  give the exam without his sacred Janeu, to which the officials simply asked him to get out.

Dhar bravely held his dharma and left the examination centre with tears in his eyes, as he was not given a chance after the hardwork he had done just because he was a Hindu and chose his religion over the anti-Hindu methods of the so-called examination body.

A simple white thread which can by no means be a cheating instrument is removed from the bodies of the Hindus in the name of avoiding cheating at the examinations. It can also be considered as a calculated move to omit the Hindus like Akhil Dhar, who are upholding their dharma.

Akhil Dharma, now, demands his fair chance in the JKSSB examinations, which is his right.
