(Reported as seen)

On the night of July 14, 2024, a violent attack occurred in ward number three of Alinagar police station area in Chandauli district, Uttar Pradesh. Islamists armed with knives and sticks targeted Hindus following a minor dispute that had transpired a fortnight earlier.

The confrontation reportedly began with a cricket game dispute between Amar, a local resident, and Javed from Kashipur Naya Basti. The conflict escalated on July 13 over a dog, leading to heightened tensions. During a Muharram procession on the night of July 14, the altercation reignited.

Amar, who was present near the Aloo Mill intersection, was attacked by Javed and his associates. The attackers, armed with knives and sticks, severely injured Amar, stabbing him in the stomach. Indu Devi, a nearby onlooker, also sustained injuries during the assault.

Upon receiving reports of the violence, Circle Officer Anirudh Singh and the Alinagar police station in-charge, Sheshdhar Pandey, promptly arrived at the scene. The injured were initially treated at the Bhogwar hospital before being transferred to the district hospital for more comprehensive care.

The police have registered a case against two individuals linked to the attack and are actively pursuing further legal actions. The incident underscores the need for vigilance and intervention to prevent escalation of minor disputes into violent confrontations, especially during sensitive times such as religious processions.
