In a shocking cyber scam, two men from the Nuh district of Haryana were arrested for running a fraudulent operation promising substantial monetary rewards to men for impregnating childless women. The accused, identified as Irshad and Ejaz, lured victims through fake advertisements on social media, ultimately scamming them out of their money.

The police apprehended Irshad and Ejaz on Saturday, July 6th, following an investigation that uncovered their deceptive practices. The duo operated multiple Facebook accounts, posting dubious advertisements featuring random women and claiming that these women were willing to pay lakhs to men who could help them conceive.

When victims responded to these advertisements, Irshad and Ejaz charged them for registration fees and filing costs. After receiving the money, the scammers would block their victims, leaving them defrauded and without any means of recourse.

The police investigation revealed the extent of the scam, with the Nuh police recovering four SIM cards from the suspects’ mobile phones, two of which were registered to addresses in Maharashtra and Assam. WhatsApp chats between the accused and their victims further exposed their fraudulent activities.

Nuh, a district already notorious for cybercrime, has seen an alarming increase in such fraudulent activities. Known as the “new Jamtara” – a reference to the town in Jharkhand infamous for online frauds – Nuh has been a hotspot for cybercriminals. In November last year, the Nuh Police’s Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) dismantled a sextortion racket, arresting several individuals involved in similar deceptive practices.

The recent arrests come amid heightened concerns about cybercrime in the region. In a related incident on July 31, 2023, an Islamist mob attacked a cyber police station in Nuh, using a hijacked bus during the Nuh violence. The mob ransacked the station, destroyed crucial evidence, and attempted to set the building on fire, further complicating efforts to combat cyber fraud in the area.

This case highlights the persistent issue of cybercrime in Nuh and underscores the need for continued vigilance and robust law enforcement measures to protect innocent victims from such scams. The police are urging the public to be cautious of online advertisements and to report any suspicious activities to prevent further incidents of fraud and deception.
