In a disturbing incident highlighting ongoing security concerns for religious minorities in Bangladesh, a Kali Mata temple in Kedarkhil village, Sitakunda district, fell victim to theft and vandalism on the night of June 24th. Unidentified perpetrators forcibly entered the temple premises by breaking the gate lock, targeting valuable gold and silver ornaments adorning the Vigraha of the deity. They also ransacked the temple’s donation box, making off with all the collected funds.

The discovery of the theft was made by the temple priest the following morning, who noticed the gate ajar and immediately alerted the local community. Upon gathering at the scene, residents confirmed the theft of precious items and money intended for temple upkeep and charity.

Local authorities, including personnel from Sitakunda Police Station, were promptly informed. However, due to the absence of CCTV surveillance on the temple premises, identifying the culprits has proven challenging. As of now, no arrests have been made, and investigations into the incident continue.

This incident underscores the vulnerability faced by Hindu religious sites and communities in Bangladesh, urging authorities to enhance security measures to safeguard places of worship and prevent such occurrences in the future.
