A young Hindu man was falsely accused of attempting to kidnap a Muslim girl whereas the truth was that at the time of the alleged incident the man was not in the country. This came soon after Hindus were attacked in Leicester, United Kingdom.
It was on 8th September when the first Instagram post full of lies was published. This did not garner much attention and the it was also ignored by the Hindu man, as it was a web of lies.
The issue escalated when story of attempted kidnapping was made up and shared with a picture of the Hindu youth & his car with an Indian flag, which was then pushed aggressively on different social media platforms with a clear intent to incite further violence against him & Hindus.
The fake story spread like wild fire and the Hindu man started to receive threats by Muslim extremists on his social media accounts. The friends and family including their faith was viciously targeted.
The school of this Muslim girl who had alleged attempted kidnapping was also informed & they issued a ‘stranger danger’ warning based on this one sided reporting.
Further a local paper published a report on this alleged attempted kidnapping without checking the facts.
On 12 September, some concerned community members notice the highly provocative & fake story going viral on social media. The Policed department’s intervention was seeked. Community members fearing for the Hindu man’s family removed the number plate from the car. But, that did suffice, soon, the address and address & phone number was leaked. Members of the Muslim community started to pour in at the Hindu man’s address. They also challenged the police.
Time stamped photos, videos & airline tickets showed that the Hindu youth was not even in the UK at the time of this alleged kidnapping. Police also released a statement confirming that such an incident never took place.
The threats increased to the level that the police asked the family to move to a safer place.
At the end, it is the Hindus becoming victim to propaganda and violence. In the Finsbury Mosque incident protection was provided to the community whereas the Hindus in Leicester have been given none, and are further attacked by lies.
