A Hindu family living in Mewati locality, a Muslim-dominated area of Indore, was attacked by Muslim youths around 7 pm on Sunday.
Accused Rehan Meo, Ayan Meo, Zahid Meo, Setty Meo and their associates pelted stones at the house of Ravi Bhagoda, who lives in a rented house. Ravi’s wife Jasoda was alone in the house at the time. The accused tried to sexually assault Jasoda. Jasoda then called her son Krishna and husband Ravi.
Jasoda’s husband and son were also assaulted by the accused. While assaulting Krishna, the accused led him to the Badi Masjid.
By that time, a crowd of approximately 25 people had gathered and beaten up the entire family. Despite being guilty, the accused went to MG Road police station to file a report against the family.
Thankfully, in a short while, the residents of the area and various Hindu organizations arrived at the police station, accompanied by lawyers Ayush Bhorhari, Sachin Yadav, and Lokendra. The police registered a case against the accused late last night under the Assault and Atrocity Act.
‘When I came out after hearing the sound of stones falling, Zahid, Setty, Rehan, and Ayan pushed me and entered the house,’ Jasoda explained. Ayan threw my husband Ravi to the ground and began kicking and punching him. The collar was grabbed by Krishna’s Setty. Zahid, Rehaan, and Ayaan punch and rip their clothes.
Ravi claims that the defendants used to throw stones at his house every Sunday and beat him up.
This wasn’t the first attack on the dignity of Jasoda; according to Ravi, a fatal attack on Jasoda occurred in June of last year as well.
The family now lives in fear and is planning to flee from Indore and return to Rajasthan.
