On November 11, in Khulna, Bangladesh, a Hindu family was attacked and looted by a frenzied radical Islamist mob of 150. The home, kitchen, cowshed, paddy shed, and furniture were destroyed and their cash and gold ornaments were stolen as well.

The house of Bikash Nandi in Sikdarpara village of Gutudia union in Dumuria upazila (sub-district) was attacked  at around 11 a.m. As per a media report, the mastermind of the gruesome crime was Tuku, from the Deyana area.

The report further said that  Bikash Nandi has been living with his family in Sikdarpara village for a long time. They have a long-standing dispute over this land with a Tuku-led local gang of the Daulatpur Deyana area. A 150-strong mob crossed the canal with crude weapons and attacked the rural home and surrounding structures.

The assailants left the place after looting and vandalizing Bikash Nandi’s residence, kitchen, cowshed, paddy-shed, temple, poultry house, and 1.5 lakh cash money and gold jewellery. During this time, the attackers seriously injured Bikash’s wife Chaneka Nandi. Later, she was admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital.

According to the local Union council (Panchayat) member Palash Hawladar, the attack was a  reminiscent of the genocidal massacre carried out by the Pakistani Army in 1971. “In just 15 minutes, the attackers destroyed six structures and reduced them to rubble. I have never seen such violent attacks on Hindus in broad daylight,” he said.

Md. Ohiduzzan, Aranghata police station officer in charge called the gruesome crime to be a tragic incident’

The local Hindus are living in fear after this horrific attack by the radicals.
