On October 30, Hindu businessman, Arjun Chandra Bhaduri was robbed and hacked in broad daylight at a gold shop in Sonagazi, Feni district of Bangladesh. The attacker gang looted gold worth about 80 lakh takas.

The attackers also threw a hand-bomb. The 52 year-old was  admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

As per the locals and the family of the affected Hindu businessman, six armed assailants on two motorcycles entered Arjun Jewelers in Jamadar Bazaar and demanded the keys to the locker.

The attackers barged in Bhaduri’s shop and demanded for the keys he used to keep the gold safe. When he refused, they hacked him repeatedly and vandalised the shop’s showcase. Further, the attackers snatched the keys and looted gold worth about 80 lakh rupees from the locker. To create panic, the attackers threw some hand bombs.

Various incidents point to the fact that it is easy to get away with a crime, against the members of the Hindu community. It has been regularly seen that the police does nothing or bare minimum when it is the Hindu community who is the victim.
