(Reported as seen)

Tension gripped the Birbhum district of West Bengal on Sunday after the body of Pradip Mal, a local BJP activist, was discovered with multiple injuries on the railway tracks between Nalhati and Chatra railway stations.

Pradip Mal, a resident of Paikpara village under Nalhati Police Station and a Toto-driver by profession, left his home early in the morning without informing his family of his destination. When he did not return, his family began searching for him and ultimately found his body on the railway tracks.

The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and the police have commenced an investigation into the incident. Initial statements from the local police suggest that Mal might have been struck by a passing train, but further details are pending.

Dhruba Saha, the BJP’s Birbhum district president, has called for a thorough investigation. He highlighted that Mal was a dedicated and active party worker and pointed out previous tensions in the area before the Lok Sabha elections. Saha also noted that there are rumors being spread by local Trinamool Congress leaders suggesting that Mal’s death was a suicide, which he believes warrants a detailed probe to uncover the truth.

The incident has heightened the already tense political atmosphere in the region, with calls for justice and clarity on the circumstances surrounding Pradip Mal’s death.
