19-Year-Old Sohail Arrested for Sexual Assault of 7-Year-Old Hindu Girl [Dehradun, Uttarakhand]

On August 2nd, a 19-year-old named Sohail was accused of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl in Vikasnagar, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The victim’s mother promptly filed a complaint at Vikasnagar Police Station on August 3rd, leading to Sohail’s arrest.

The police registered an FIR under Section 65(2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 5(m) and 6 of the POCSO Act. Following a medical examination of the victim, Sohail was apprehended near Bridge Number 2 in the region. He was subsequently presented in court and remanded to custody.

SHO Rajesh Kotwal stated that the case involves a serious crime against a minor, and assured that multiple teams were deployed to ensure the swift arrest of the accused. The SHO also confirmed that the victim and accused belonged to different communities.

The incident sparked protests by Hindu organizations outside the police station, demanding immediate and stringent action against Sohail.
