In Nanital, Uttrakhand, 18 year old, Anjali Arya was murdered by a Jihadi named Mohammad Yameen Ahmed who was grooming the child. Ahmed had slit Anjali’s throat after she started to ask him for marriage. After 24 days of her disappearance the horrific reality was brought to light.
On Wednesday, August 3, Anjali left the house for her college and didn’t return. The family failed to trace her. Soon, the family discovered that Anjali had also taken some jewellery with her. They immediately filed a missing person’s report at the local police station.
When Anjali’s call details were checked it was known that she had called Ahmed the most.
Ahmed later confessed that he had lured Anjali into a romantic relationship and that he had killed her by slitting her throat. Anjali’s decomposed body was discovered from the dense forest located a little distance from the forest department post on Shaktifarm Road. It has been 24 days since Anjali’s murder; the body had decomposed to a great extent. Insects had also eaten it; only a skeleton was left in it. Soon the murder weapon and the victim’s purse were also found.
Ahmed said that he and Anjali had met on social media. They used to frequently chat online, which led to the closeness between them. Some reports also suggest that Ahmed had initiated the relationship by giving missed calls to Anjali’s number and the girl eventually fell into his trap.
Their intimacy increased as they talked on the phone for prolonged hours and then started meeting in person. Anjali was too immersed in the lies of Ahmed and wanted to take the ‘romantic relationship’ to a wedding. Though initially, Ahmed avoided this topic, he later hatched the conspiracy to get rid of her by killing her.
Anjali was a resident of Khadakpur village in Motahaldu, which falls under the jurisdiction of Lalkuan police station in Nainital.
Mohammad Yameen Ahmed worked as a pick-up driver and is from Bara village.
