In a deeply troubling case of deception and exploitation, a Muslim man named Wasim Malik from Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, posed as ‘Rahul’ on Instagram to befriend and exploit a widowed Hindu woman from Mumbai. The woman, who had lost her husband in 2015 while she was seven months pregnant, became the victim of a heinous crime that involved rape, blackmail, and forced religious conversion.

The incident began in February 2023, when the woman received a friend request on Instagram from a user named “Black Commando.” The man behind the profile, Wasim Malik, pretended to be Rahul and successfully lured the vulnerable woman into an online relationship. After gaining her trust, he convinced her to travel to his village in Babugarh, Hapur, on March 8, 2022.

Upon her arrival, Wasim took the woman to a hotel, where he drugged and raped her while she was unconscious. He recorded the assault and subsequently used the video as leverage, threatening to share it on social media if she reported the crime. This act of blackmail kept the woman silent and under his control.

On March 25, 2023, Wasim forcibly took the woman to Jama Masjid in Delhi. Under duress, she was compelled to convert to Islam and was given the name Ayesha. Following the forced conversion, they were married according to Islamic customs. The victim and her young daughter were then moved to a rented house in Gautam Buddha Nagar district.

The harassment did not end there. Wasim, along with two unidentified associates, pressured the woman to convert her daughter to Islam as well. In addition to the emotional and physical abuse, the woman reported that Wasim extorted Rs 3 lakh from her.

The victim courageously filed a complaint at Babugarh police station, detailing the horrific sequence of events. Vijay Gupta, the Police Station in-charge, confirmed that a case had been registered against Wasim Malik and his two accomplices. The police are actively investigating the matter, and efforts are underway to apprehend the culprits and ensure justice for the victim.

This case highlights the need for vigilance and support for victims of such crimes. It underscores the importance of safeguarding individuals from deceitful practices and ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable for their actions.
