Hindu Family Attacked During Muharram Procession [Samastipur, Bihar]

In a disturbing incident in Samastipur, Bihar, a Hindu family was violently attacked by participants in a Muharram procession. The attack occurred on July 14 in Dalsingh Sarai, where a Muharram procession was taking place along the main road, featuring sword tricks and gathering soil for Tajiya.

Abhitesh Kumar, traveling with his wife and son from Madhubani district, had parked their car by the roadside when they were suddenly assaulted by a group of youths from the procession. The attackers used sticks and swords to smash the car windows, causing injuries to the family members.

The violence extended beyond the family, as the attackers also assaulted other pedestrians before fleeing the scene. The victims promptly reported the incident to the police, providing details that led to the identification of the assailants. Abhitesh Kumar filed an FIR, resulting in the arrest of five suspects: Mohammad Sajjad, Mohammad Ishtiaq, Mohammad Sonu, and two minors involved in the attack.

The arrested individuals are currently in custody while the police continue their investigation, examining CCTV footage to gather more evidence. The incident has raised concerns about safety during religious processions and the need for effective measures to prevent such attacks.

Authorities are working to address the situation and ensure justice for the victims, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and respect during religious events.
