A troubling case of what appears to be Love Jihad has emerged from Deesa town in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district. The police have arrested the accused bus driver, Imran Qasam Hussain Dhori from Vadodara, for repeatedly raping and blackmailing a Hindu woman. The horrifying details came to light when the victim, unable to bear the torture any longer, attempted suicide. The authorities have since registered a case against Dhori and taken him into custody.
Imran Dhori Traps a Married Hindu Woman
The victim, a resident of Deesa town and married to a man from South Gujarat, is a fine arts student. About six months ago, during a trip to North India with her husband, she met Imran Dhori, who was the driver of their bus. Impressed by her paintings, Dhori struck up a conversation, which led to the woman giving him her Instagram ID.
Dhori then used Instagram to obtain her mobile number and began lavishing praise on her artwork, which quickly escalated into a romantic relationship. Their interactions became private meetings, during which Dhori exploited the woman’s trust. On one occasion, while traveling from Navsari to Deesa, Dhori stopped the bus near Vadodara, joined her in the passenger coach, and raped her. He later coerced her into a car, claiming her as his wife and continuing the sexual assault.
Dhori subsequently blackmailed the woman using private photos and videos he had taken, forcing her into further sexual encounters. This relentless abuse drove the woman to the brink of despair, leading her to attempt suicide at her father’s house by ingesting poison. She is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Deesa.
Police Investigation and Broader Implications
Following the victim’s complaint, the Deesa police registered a case against Dhori. According to the victim’s lawyer, Dharmendra Fofani, the police have uncovered information suggesting that Dhori may have victimized other Hindu girls in a similar manner. Fofani stated, “This is a clear-cut case of love jihad, and I will ensure that justice is brought to every girl who has been a victim of such exploitation.”
The investigation, led by police inspector Amit Desai, is ongoing, with authorities probing whether Dhori has entrapped more Hindu women. The community is watching closely as the police dig deeper into this case, hoping for justice and increased protection against such predatory behavior.
